NEW YORK, March 27, 2017 – Santa Cruz’s Jabari Brown today was named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, March 20 through Sunday, March 26.
Brown (6-4, Missouri) led Santa Cruz to a 3-0 week, while scoring 25.7 points (sixth in the league) on 50.0 percent shooting. He connected on 14-of-25 three-point attempts and compiled 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists. The 3-0 week puts Santa Cruz just one win away from a playoff berth.
On March 21, Brown scored a season-high 36 points on 12-for-18 shooting. He connected on 8-of-11 three-point attempts and recorded three rebounds and three assists in a 138-125 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. On March 25, he scored 32 points to go with seven rebounds four assists and one block in a 134-124 victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
Brown was acquired by the Santa Cruz Warriors after playing earlier in the year for the Jilin Northeast Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. Since returning to the NBA D-League, Brown averaged 21.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists in seven games for Santa Cruz this season.
Other top performers considered were Austin’s Charles Garcia, Delaware’s Russ Smith, Greensboro’s Rasheed Sulaimon, Long Island’s Cliff Alexander, Northern Arizona’s Elijah Millsap, Raptors 905’s Edy Tavares, Reno’s Isaiah Cousins, Will David and Kendall Marshall, Rio Grande Valley’s Isaiah Taylor, Westchester’s Travis Trice II and Windy City’s Wesley Saunders.
