SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Golden State Warriors two-way guard Quinn Cook and center Damian Jones have been named to the Midseason All-NBA G League Western Conference Team, the league announced today. With Salt Lake City Stars two-way forward Georges Niang also being named to the team, Santa Cruz is the only NBA G League franchise to have three players from their 2017-18 roster honored for their first-half performance this season.
Cook has appeared in 24 games (all starts) for Santa Cruz and recorded a team-high 24.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 35.9 minutes. In 10 games with the 2017 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, Cook is averaging 3.2 points, 1.6 assists and 1.1 rebounds on 44.8% shooting (13-29) in 10.3 minutes. The third-year guard was an NBA G League All-Star selection in his first two seasons, and earned All-Star Game MVP honors in 2017.
Jones has started all 33 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, averaging 15.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.09 blocks on a league leading 67.6% from the field (207-306). Jones has appeared in one game for the Golden State Warriors this season, collecting one rebound in two minutes of action on December 20 against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Also named to the All-NBA G League Western Conference team is Salt Lake City Stars two-way forward Georges Niang, who played 26 games with Santa Cruz Warriors this season before earning his GATORADE Call-Up on January 14. Originally signed by the Golden State Warriors as a training camp invite, Niang averaged 18.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 33.1 minutes with Santa Cruz.
Joining Cook, Jones and Niang on the All-NBA G League Western Conference Team are Anthony Brown (Wolves), Thomas Bryant (Lakers), Alex Caruso (Lakers), Daniel Hamilton (Blue), Darrun Hilliard (Spurs), Amile Jefferson (Wolves), Johnathan Motley (Legends), Tyrone Wallace (Clippers) and Jameel Warney (Legends).
This season, NBA G League coaches, general managers and players voted to recognize the top NBA G League performers from the first half of the season in both conferences. Eligibility for players to be selected was based on having played in 50 percent of their team’s games through January 21, as well as being on an active roster. Two-way players and players on assignment from the NBA were eligible to both vote for and receive Midseason All-NBA G League recognition.
