Warriors Fall to Blue in Game 2 of Western Conference Semifinals

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Oklahoma City Blue 131-117 in Game 2 of the NBA D-League Western Conference Semifinals on Saturday night at Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, tying the best-of-three series at 1-1 and setting up a decisive Game 3 on Monday night.

The Warriors were led by Jabari Brown, who scored 25 points off the bench on 9-of-11 (.818) from the field to go along with four assists. Alex Hamilton contributed 16 points, while LaDontae Henton added 15 points in his first start since Feb. 12 against Oklahoma City at Oracle Arena. Phil Pressey added 14 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, while Damian Jones, currently on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, tallied nine points, five blocks and four rebounds.

Dakari Johnson logged a double-double for the Blue with a game-high 29 points and 11 rebounds on 11-of-15 (.733) shooting, while Daniel Hamilton also notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists. Josh Huestis, currently on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, recorded 19 points and five rebounds, as the Blue had seven scorers reach double figures overall.

Santa Cruz jumped out to an 11-7 lead, but the Blue closed the quarter on a Kameron Woods 22-foot floater to beat the buzzer and give Oklahoma City a 33-29 lead heading into the second frame. Santa Cruz used a 9-0 spurt to take a 50-46 lead with 5:12 left in the first half on a Brown pull-up baseline jumper, but the Blue ended the quarter on a 20-6 run to take a 66-56 lead at halftime. Oklahoma City never trailed in the second half, leading by as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter.

The Blue outshot the Warriors 57.3 percent to 46.0 percent from the floor and outrebounded Santa Cruz 44-39. The Warriors held the edge in assists (21-20) and blocks (10-5), while the Blue amassed more steals (9-8) and turnovers (16-13). The game featured eight ties and 11 lead changes, all of which occurred in the first half.
