Santa Cruz To Host Season Of Giving Community Events During Holidays

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The Santa Cruz Warriors coaches, players and front office staff will host events throughout the next few weeks to support local Santa Cruz families and youth during this holiday season, as part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving league-wide campaign. Members of the Santa Cruz Warriors organization will spread holiday cheer while engaging with disadvantaged families, youth with life-threatening medical conditions and local community groups.

Below is a look at the Santa Cruz Warriors’ schedule of Season of Giving events:

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 24:

  • Thanksgiving Meal Donation – Santa Cruz Warriors mascot, Mav’Riks, delivered a local family an entire Thanksgiving meal.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2:

  • Jacob’s Heart Gift Wrapping - Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services provides donated holiday gifts to patients in their network. Santa Cruz front office staff will assist in wrapping the gifts for the children to open on Christmas.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 6:

  • Christmas Tree Donation – Santa Cruz front office staff and a player will donate a fully decorated Christmas tree to a local family who is benefitting from the support services of Jacob’s Heart.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 13:

  • Adopt-a-Family – In partnership with the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Warriors front office and coaching staff adopted a family to provide gifts for the holidays. A Santa Cruz Warriors player will distribute the gifts to the family.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17:

  • Pajama Night – Fans at the Santa Cruz Warriors home game on December 17 will be invited to wear pajamas and also donate a new pair of pajamas to the local non-profit Project Pajamas.
