NBA G League Affiliate of the Back-To-Back NBA Champions Will Host 11 Home Games in First Six Weeks

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The NBA G League announced today that the Santa Cruz Warriors, the NBA G League affiliate of the back-to-back NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, will tip-off the 2018-19 regular season, presented by Kaiser Permanente, on Saturday, November 3 in Prescott, Arizona against the Northern Arizona Suns. The team will return to downtown Santa Cruz to host their home opener at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Wednesday, November 7 against the Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings.

The team will host 11 home games in the first six weeks of the 2018-19 season, including a pair of holiday weekend games taking place after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 23 against the Salt Lake City Stars, the NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, and the day before New Year’s Eve 2019 on Sunday, December 30 against the Northern Arizona Suns.

Similar to last season, Santa Cruz is scheduled to play seven back-to-back series during the 2018-19 season, including home sets on November 30 and December 1 against the Texas Legends, on December 14-15 against the Sioux Falls Skyforce and the Erie Bayhawks and on March 22-23 against the Agua Caliente Clippers to conclude the regular season.

The team’s schedule includes an inaugural matchup against the Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards and the newest expansion franchise, on Wednesday March 20 at Kaiser Permanente Arena. Santa Cruz is slated to play all teams in the Pacific Division four times each (two home, two away), and all teams in the Midwest and Southwest Divisions three times each, totaling 40 contests against Western Conference opponents. The Warriors will play the remaining 10 games against eight Eastern Conference opponents and two matchups in the 15th annual NBA G League Showcase, with dates, times and locations to be announced at a later date.

A record 27 teams will compete in the NBA G League’s 18th season, with each team playing a 50-game schedule that concludes in March 2019.  For the second consecutive season, stretches where teams play four games in five nights have been eliminated.  The number of back-to-back games has been reduced to an all-time low, with teams playing an average of 6.6 back-to-backs this season, a 5.7 percent reduction from 7.0 per team last season.

To secure the best seats to the biggest games, including Opening Night on November 7, the team recommends becoming a season ticket holder as less than 25 seats within the first six rows of the court are available.
