Seven Santa Cruz Warriors Players Featured On NBA Summer League Rosters

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Seven Santa Cruz Warriors players from the 2016-17 season are scheduled to compete in the 2017 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, including three on the Golden State Warriors, the team announced today.

Santa Cruz Warriors forward Elgin Cook and guards Jabari Brown and Alex Hamilton have been named to the Golden State Warriors Summer League roster. They will join Golden State Warriors center Damian Jones, forward Kevon Looney and guard Patrick McCaw, who each spent time on assignment in Santa Cruz last season. In addition, former Palma High School guard/forward and Pacific Grove native Noah Allen will suit up for the Warriors next week. 2016-17 Santa Cruz Warriors forward Cleanthony Early has joined the San Antonio Spurs Summer League team, while fellow forwards Chris Obekpa will play for the Phoenix Suns in Las Vegas, James Southerland will play for the Utah Jazz and Scott Wood will suit up for the Boston Celtics this week.

2017 NBA Las Vegas Summer League begins Friday, July 7 and runs through Monday, July 17. Golden State’s Summer League schedule begins Saturday, July 8 against the Philadelphia 76ers (7:30 p.m. PDT) at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Warriors will then play a back-to-back against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, July 10 (tip-off 5:30 p.m. PDT) and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, July 11 (5:30 p.m. PDT). All teams will then participate in a tournament-style schedule that will culminate in the crowning of an NBA Summer League Champion on Monday, July 17.

The Golden State Warriors will appear at Las Vegas Summer League for the 12th time (2005-10, 2012-present) and won the inaugural Summer League title in 2013. The Warriors own a 36-23 (.610) all-time record at NBA Summer League, the most team wins in the history of the event.
