Warriors Acquire Jabari Brown

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Santa Cruz Warriors announced today that the team has acquired guard Jabari Brown. On Mar. 2, the Warriors acquired the Returning Player Rights of Brown from the Los Angeles D-Fenders in a three-team trade with the D-Fenders and the Northern Arizona Suns.

Brown (6-5, 215lb) last played for the Jilin Northeast Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association where he averaged 33.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game 32.9 minutes. During the 2015-16 season, Brown played for the Foshan Long Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association where he averaged 32.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game over 27 games.

After going undrafted in the 2014 NBA draft, Brown joined the Houston Rockets for Summer League before signing with Los Angeles Lakers and appearing in four preseason games. After the Lakers waived him in October, he was acquired by the Los Angeles D-Fenders where he averaged 24.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists and earned a spot on the Futures team for the 2015 NBA D-League All-Star Game.

During the 2014-15 season, Brown signed two 10-day contracts with the Lakers and later signed a multi-year deal with the team after scoring 22 points against the Philadelphia 76ers on March 30. On October 26, he was waived by the Lakers prior to the start of the 2015–16 season.

Brown played college basketball for the University of Missouri where he led the SEC in scoring as a junior, with an average of 19.9 points per game. Brown was also named to the All-SEC first team in 2014.

An Oakland native, Brown transferred to Oakland High School during his junior year where he averaged 23.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. As a senior in 2010–11, Brown averaged 23.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Brown will wear jersey #2 for the Warriors and is expected to be in uniform for tonight’s Santa Cruz Warriors home game against Raptors 905.
