Warriors Defeat Stockton Kings 95-88; Six Sea Dubs Reach Double Figures

SANTA CRUZ, CA –The Santa Cruz Warriors (25-9) defeated the division rival Stockton Kings (20-13) tonight at Kaiser Permanente Arena, 95-88. Despite only dressing nine players tonight, the Sea Dubs had six players score in double figures and held the Kings to 35.4 percent shooting from the field (29-of-82 FG).

Warriors guard Kendrick Nunn scored 21 points off the bench in just 34 minutes. Center Deyonta Davis logged his second consecutive double-double tonight with 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Forward Juan Toscano-Anderson notched 12 points, nine rebounds and a career-high four steals, while guard Will Cherry collected 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Stockton guard Cameron Reynolds scored a game-high 30 points tonight, connecting on a career-high eight made threes (8-of-12 3FG), more than double the entire Warriors team (season-low three made 3FG). Two-way forward Troy Williams scored 19 points to go with seven rebounds in 28 minutes. The Kings logged 10 blocked shots tonight, including five from center Anthony Walker.

The Warriors opened the night with a season-low 13 points in the first quarter, as both teams shot a combined 10-for-45 (22.2 perfect from the field) in the period as Stockton took a 17-13 lead. In the second frame, Santa Cruz went on an 16-1 run in the second quarter to take their first lead of the night into halftime, 45-31. Santa Cruz held Stockton to a season-low 31 points on 23.7 percent shooting (9-of-38 FG).

Santa Cruz built the lead up to as many as 16 points in the second half, but Stockton’s blistering 11-of-23 from deep (47.8 percent 3FG) brought the lead down to four points with less than four minutes remaining. Despite 21 second half points from Reynolds (7-of-11 from three), Santa Cruz was able to hold on for the win.

Santa Cruz embarks on a three-game road trip beginning this Friday, February 8 against the Salt Lake City Stars (6:00 p.m. PST, Facebook Live).
