Warriors Fall To Spurs On Second Night Of Back-To-Back, 125-111

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The Santa Cruz Warriors (20-19) fell to the Austin Spurs (22-16), 125-111, Saturday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

After a back-and-forth first half that saw seven lead changes, Santa Cruz took a 61-55 lead into the locker room, with Zach Norvell Jr. scoring all 18 of his points on first half threes (6-of-8 3FG). The Spurs began the third quarter on a 15-2 run to capture the lead and maintain it through the third quarter to go into the final frame with a nine-point lead. The Warriors, on the second night of a back-to-back, were unable to regain the lead and were outscored 70-50 in the second half.

Andrew Harrison led the Warriors with 25 points and 14 assists, the most assists by a Santa Cruz player this season.  Jonathon Simmons added 23 points (8-of-15 FG).

On assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, Chimezie Metu had a big night on the boards to finish with a double-double (27 points, 17 rebounds). Spurs Two-Way guard Quinndary Weatherspoon added 17 points and seven assists in his 31 minutes of action.

The Warriors lead the season series with the Spurs, 2-1, with the final matchup between the two teams on March 14 at 3 p.m., when the Santa Cruz Warriors host their first game at Chase Center, the new home of the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors split the two games in the weekend back-to-back and will now embark on a three-game road trip starting in Salt Lake City against the Stars (27-12) on March 4 at 6 p.m. (PT). Fans can watch the game on NBC Sports Bay Area Plus or stream on ESPN+. The Warriors return to Kaiser Permanente Arena on March 12 to take on the Oklahoma City Blue (19-19) at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Hardwood Classics Blanket presented by Ticketmaster.
