Lester Quinones Named NBA G League Player of the Week

Santa Cruz Warriors guard Lester Quinones has been named the NBA G League Player of the Week for games played from February 13 to February 26, the NBA G League announced today. The award marks the first career weekly recognition for the NBA G League rookie. 

Quinones led all NBA G League scorers with 31.0 points per game on 47.3% from the field (44-of-93 FG) and 37.0% from 3-point range (17-of-46 3FG) to go with 9.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 33.8 minutes per game during Santa Cruz’s 3-1 week. The guard put up a season-high 42-point performance against Salt Lake City on February 25 while shooting 51.7% (15-of-29 FG) from the field. 

On the season, Quinones is averaging 20.7 points per game on 44.7% from the field, 36.1% from 3-point range and 80.8% from the free throw line, adding 7.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 32.6 minutes per game. The Memphis product has scored at least 20 points in twelve of his first 21 games (all starts) to begin the season. 

The award marks the 17th time in franchise history a player has been named Player of the Week since the NBA G League began giving the award out in 2006. Warriors guard Jerome Robinson was the last to win the honor on March 29, 2022. 

The Santa Cruz Warriors will face the Cleveland Charge for a two-game series on March 2 at 7:00pm PST at Kaiser Permanente Arena and March 4 at 12:30pm PST at Chase Center in San Francisco. The first 1,000 fans in attendance on March 2 will receive a Clear Fanny Pack presented by Kaiser Permanente and the first 10,000 fans in attendance on March 4 will receive a Captain Klay Bobblehead presented by Adobe.
