Santa Cruz Splits Series With Oklahoma City, Falls 160-107

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Santa Cruz Warriors (12-10) fell to the Oklahoma City Blue (12-12), 160-107, on Thursday evening to split the two-game series.
Two-way guard Pat Spencer led the Warriors with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Center Amida Brimah picked up a double-double, scoring 10 points to go along with 11 rebounds and guard Kendric Davis finished with 15 points and six assists. Forward Jackson Rowe added 14 points and seven rebounds in the Sea Dubs loss.
Guard Jahmi’us Ramsey led the Blue with 29 points off the bench. Two-way forward Ousmane Dieng finished the night with a triple-double, notching 18 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Center KJ Williams added 24 points and nine rebounds, and guard Jaden Shackelford closed out with 24 points and six rebounds.
A competitive first quarter saw eight lead changes, and a combined 21 points from Oklahoma City’s Williams and Shackelford helped the Blue secure a slim lead to end the frame, 42-40. The Blue slowly pulled ahead in the second quarter, but nine points each from Davis and guard Donovan Williams helped the Warriors stay in the contest, trailing just 39-35 at the half.
The Blue pushed their advantage to as many as 27 points in the third quarter, capitalizing on just 15 points from a slow Sea Dubs offense and closing out the frame with a 115-90 lead. The Warriors again struggled offensively in the fourth quarter, shooting just 20.8 percent from the field (5-of-24) and zero percent from behind the arc (0-of-10). Oklahoma City extended their advantage to as many as 56 points in the final frame, eventually handing the Warriors a 160-107 loss, the team’s largest defeat in franchise history.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will now travel to Mexico City to face the Capitanes in a back-to-back series on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. (PT) and Monday, March 4 at 6 p.m. (PT). The Sea Dubs return to the Bay Area on Sunday, March 10 to host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, at 12:30 p.m. (PT).
