Santa Cruz Warriors Beat Salt Lake City, 140-126

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The Santa Cruz Warriors (5-0) beat the Salt Lake City Stars (2-3), 140-126, on Tuesday evening at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, UT. The Warriors have now won five straight games.

Forward Gui Santos, on assignment from Golden State, led the Warriors with 27 points and added nine rebounds and four assists. Two-way guard Lester Quinones added 25 points and eight rebounds. Four Warriors players finished with double-doubles today. Guard Donovan Williams notched 16 points and 10 rebounds, and two-way center Usman Garuba added 15 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, guard Kendric Davis posted 13 points and 12 assists, and center Jayce Johnson added 12 points and 10 rebounds to the win. 

On assignment from the Utah Jazz, forward Brice Sensabaugh led the Stars with 28 points, six rebounds and six assists. Also on assignment from the Utah Jazz, forward Taylor Hendricks added 22 points and seven rebounds, and two-way guard Johnny Juzang scored 21 points. Two Stars players finished with double-doubles today, with two-way guard Josh Christopher notching 16 points and 11 assists and two-way forward Micah Potter adding 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Warriors fell behind in the first quarter and closed out the quarter down by five points, 34-29. In the second quarter, the Stars offense continued their momentum, outscoring the Warriors by 16 points in the frame. The Warriors allowed 19 points off of twelve turnovers in the first half, and trailed Salt Lake City at the break, 76-60.

The Sea Dubs shaved the Stars lead in throughout the third quarter. A three-pointer by Williams with 1:38 left in the frame cut the deficit to three points, 100-97. Early in the fourth quarter, a three-pointer by Santos gave Santa Cruz their first lead of the game with 10:11 on the clock, 109-108. The Warriors offense fought back, going on a 20-6 run in the final frame. Quinones hit a three-point buzzer-beater helping the Sea Dubs secure the win over the Stars, 140-126.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will now travel to face the Ontario Clippers on Monday, November 27 at 10:30 a.m. PT at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.
