Santa Cruz Warriors Beat South Bay Lakers, 119-117

The Santa Cruz Warriors (5-7) beat the South Bay Lakers (7-4), 119-117, on Friday evening at the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, CA.

Guard Moses Moody, on assignment from Golden State, led the Warriors with 26 points. Guard Lester Quinones followed with 20 points and guard Ryan Rollins, also on assignment from Golden State, added 18 points off the bench. Center Jayce Johnson secured a double-double in the win, notching 10 points and 17 rebounds.

Forward Bryce Hamilton and guard Scotty Pippen Jr. led the Lakers with 20 points each. Forward Cole Swider added 16 points off the bench and center Jay Huff notched a double-double, closing out the night with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The game was competitive throughout the first quarter, with 11 points from Moody giving the Warriors a 39-34 lead heading into the second quarter. The Warriors maintained the lead throughout the second quarter, closing out the first half with a 67-56 lead over the Lakers.

The Lakers tied the game at 82 points off a 15-3 run, but trailed the Warriors heading into the final frame, 94-87. The Warriors trailed by one point at the end of the fourth quarter, but Schakel scored with three seconds left on the clock securing the victory over the Lakers, 119-117.
