Santa Cruz Warriors Defeat Iowa Wolves, 127-119

The Santa Cruz Warriors (15-13) defeated the Iowa Wolves (8-21), 127-119, in front of a sold-out crowd on Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.  

Guard Dusty Hannahs led the Warriors tonight, with 22 points. Center Jayce Johnson notched a double-double, adding 15 rebounds and 10 points, and forward Gui Santos contributed 20 points and five rebounds off the bench.  

The Wolves were led by guard Craig Randall II, who added 26 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Center Emmanuel Mudiay contributed 23 points, seven assists, and five rebounds, and forward Matt Lewis notched 22 points, seven assists, and six rebounds for Iowa tonight.  

The matchup began as a back-and-forth between the Warriors and the Wolves, with four lead changes in the first five minutes. The Wolves pulled ahead, building to an advantage of as many as 16 points and closed out the first quarter with a 43-29 lead over the Warriors. The Sea Dubs responded in the second quarter, tying the contest with just under six minutes left in the half. The game went back and forth throughout the rest of the quarter, with the Dubs holding a 65-61 lead at the half.  

Santa Cruz sustained a slight advantage for much of the third quarter, until a three-point shot by Iowa forward Jordan Bohannon propelled the Wolves into the lead to end the frame, 93-92. The final quarter stayed close and saw five lead changes. With one minute remaining, the Sea Dubs gained offensive momentum, building an advantage of seven points that ultimately propelled them to victory over the Wolves, 127-119.  

The Warriors are back in action for a rematch with the Iowa Wolves on Saturday, March 18 at 7 p.m. PT at Kaiser Permanente Arena for the team’s annual Pride Night, presented by Chase.
