Santa Cruz Warriors Drop To Nba G League Ignite At Kaiser Permanente Arena, 104-99

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The Santa Cruz Warriors (4-8) lost, 104-99, to the NBA G League Ignite (6-6) Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The Warriors have finished the Showcase Cup qualifying and will now head to Las Vegas, NV for the final two games.

The Sea Dubs came out hot to take an early lead thanks to an explosive offense, ending the first quarter with a 28-17 lead. The Ignite offense started to come alive late in the second quarter, but a combined 30 points from Warriors forward Axel Toupane and guard Quinndary Weatherspoon in the second quarter helped Santa Cruz take a 59-48 lead into halftime. Ignite came back to within one point of the Warriors late in the third, but the Sea Dubs were able to keep an 81-77 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Ignite tied the game with 1:45 remaining in the fourth quarter and ultimately came back to beat the Warriors 104-99.

Weatherspoon led the Warriors with 26 points and added four assists. Toupane followed closely with 23 points and five rebounds and center Jordan Bell closed out the night just one assist away from a triple-double, ending with 15 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists.

Guard Amauri Hardy finished with 19 points for the Ignite and added four rebounds, while center Jessie Govan finished with a double-double, notching 18 points and 14 rebounds off the bench. Forward Michael Foster Jr. Added 15 points and eight rebounds.
