The Santa Cruz Warriors (12-12) fell to the Birmingham Squadron (7-19), 127-112, on Tuesday afternoon at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, AL.
Guard Moses Moody, on assignment from Golden State, led the Warriors with 25 points and seven rebounds and guard Jerome Robinson added 20 points and six rebounds. Forward Anthony Lamb, also on assignment from Golden State, alongside guard Eli Pemberton, posted 13 points each.
The Squadron were led by guard Dereon Seabron with 22 points and nine assists and forward James Kelly, Sr. followed with a double-double, notching 21 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Kelan Martin added 19 points and guard Daeqwon Plowden contributed 18 points and nine rebounds to the win.
The Squadron took an early lead and were up by as many as 14 points in the first quarter, yet the Warriors were able to come back to within six points, 28-22, to enter the second quarter. Santa Cruz fought back and shrunk the lead in the second quarter, heading into the second half down 49-47.
The lead went back and forth in the third quarter, but the Warriors took a four-point lead with just 3.2 seconds remaining and went into the final quarter up 86-82. The Squadron regained the lead in the fourth quarter and eventually built up a double-digit lead to secure the win over the Warriors, 127-112.
