Santa Cruz Warriors Fall To South Bay Lakers, 131-110

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The Santa Cruz Warriors (3-5) fell to the South Bay Lakers (4-1) Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena, 131-110.
South Bay started the first quarter on a 7-0 run and the second quarter on an 10-0 run to gain the momentum and keep the lead, 79-52, going into halftime, thanks to two-way forward Jay Huff’s 13 first-half points. The Lakers kept the lead throughout the second half, even leading by 34 points. A 16-0 run in the final minutes of the fourth quarter brought the Sea Dubs to within 19 points, but the deficit was too large to overcome, and the Warriors ultimately fell to the Lakers, 131-110.
On assignment from Golden State, forward Jonathan Kuminga led the Warriors with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Also, on assignment from the Warriors, guard Moses Moody added 21 points and three assists. Guard Kendall Smith added 13 points off the bench for the Sea Dubs in the loss.
Huff finished the night with a double-double (19 points, 15 rebounds). Center Cameron Oliver, also finished with 19 points and added nine rebounds and forward Paris Bass led South Bay with 24 points and added 11 rebounds off the bench.
