Santa Cruz Warriors Outplay Texas Legends, 130-111

The Santa Cruz Warriors (9-9) defeated the Texas Legends (6-12), 130-111, Wednesday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

  Santa Cruz was led by guard Lester Quinones, who contributed 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists to the win. Golden State Warriors two-way forward Anthony Lamb secured a double-double, notching 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Sea Dubs. Forward Gui Santos added 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench. 

 Guard Taze Moore led Texas with 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Guard Grant Riller added 18 points and seven assists and forward Yudai Baba notched 18 points and six rebounds. 

  The Warriors opened the first frame by building an early lead of up to 10 points. The Legends closed the gap to just three points, 35-32, to close the first quarter. The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with 11 lead changes, but the game remained tied at 58 with one minute remaining in the frame. An and-one driving layup from Riller gave Texas a three-point lead until Quinones hit a three-point shot to tie the game at 61 heading into halftime.

  After a strong start, the Sea Dubs held the lead by as many as 16 points across the third quarter. A shot clock violation by the Legends with eight seconds to go led to a tip-in from Lamb at the buzzer, giving the Warriors a 95-79 lead. Santa Cruz extended their lead up to 23 points in the fourth quarter, ultimately winning the matchup 130-111. 

   The Warriors will host the Austin Spurs after the All-Star break on Wednesday, February 22 at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz.
