Warriors Come Back To Send Game To Overtime And Beat Stars, 118-115

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The Santa Cruz Warriors (14-17) gave up a big first half lead and then fought back in final minute to send game to overtime and beat the Salt Lake City Stars (8-22) Tuesday night in Salt Lake City, 118-115. With the win, the Warriors extend their win streak to four.

Santa Cruz found themselves down 11-3 in the first quarter but came back and pulled ahead to take a 37-33 lead into the second. Santa Cruz scored a season-high 77 first half points and led by as many as 22 points to head into halftime ahead 77-59.

The Stars gained all momentum in the third and outscored the Warriors 33-11 to go into the final frame leading 92-88. In the fourth, the Warriors climbed back and a three by guard Kalob Ledoux tied the score at 112 with 1:15 remaining. Guard Kendall Smith was then fouled and hit one of two free throws to tie the game at 115 and eventually send the game to overtime. In overtime, Smith hit all three Warriors points and secured the 118-115 win.

Seven out of the eight active Warriors finished in double figures, led by forward LJ Figueroa with 24 points. Center Selom Mawugbe tallied his fifth double-double of the season (10 points, 14 rebounds) and Smith his fourth (15 points and 14 assists). Forward Ryan Taylor was .500 behind the arc and finished the night with 15 points.

Guard Carsen Edwards led the Stars with 38 points (6-14 3FG). Center Marques Bolden added 18 points and 13 rebounds.
