Warriors Fall to Lakers to Split Two-Game Series

The Santa Cruz Warriors (5-8) fell to the South Bay Lakers (8-4), 152-118, on Sunday night at the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, CA.
Forward Patrick Baldwin Jr., on assignment from Golden State, led the Warriors with 21 points and seven rebounds. Guard Moses Moody, also on assignment from Golden State, followed with 20 points and guard Lester Quinones added 19 points and nine rebounds.
Guard Javante McCoy and forward Cole Swider led the Lakers with 23 points each off the bench and guard Bryce Hamilton added 20 points. Two Lakers players finished with double doubles today, with guard Shaquille Harrison notching 12 points and 12 assists and center Jay Huff adding 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The contest featured multiple lead changes in the first quarter, but the Warriors trailed the Lakers, 36-29, heading into the second quarter. The Lakers maintained the lead throughout the second quarter, building to a 20-point advantage heading into the second half, 81-62.
The Lakers came out strong as the third quarter began, taking the lead over the Warriors by as many as 30 points. Santa Cruz gave up a season-high 37 points in the fourth quarter and could not regain the lead, splitting the series with the Lakers and falling, 152-118.
The Warriors return to Kaiser Permanente Arena on February 3 at 7pm to face the Ontario Clippers and host the team’s annual Black History Month Celebration game, presented by Chase.
