Warriors Fall to Vipers to Split Two Game Series

The Santa Cruz Warriors (17-14) fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (17-14), 121-111, on Thursday night at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinberg, TX. 

Golden State Warriors two-way guard Lester Quinones led Santa Cruz with 21 points. Center Jayce Johnson secured a double-double, notching 17 points and 14 rebounds, and forward Patrick Baldwin Jr., on assignment from Golden State, added 17 points and eight rebounds.  

Houston Rockets two-way forward Darius Days led the Vipers with 29 points and added six rebounds. Guard TyTy Washington Jr., on assignment from Houston, secured a triple-double, posting 19 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in the win. 

The contest featured multiple lead changes in the first quarter, but the Vipers regained the lead, 36-26, heading into the second quarter. Rio Grande Valley sustained their momentum in the second frame, closing out the first half with a 67-57 lead over the Warriors.

The Vipers offense dominated, extending their advantage to as many as 22 points in the third quarter and held a 100-84 lead heading into the final frame. The Sea Dubs offense fought back in the fourth quarter, but could not regain the lead, falling 121-111 to the Vipers.

The Warriors return to Kaiser Permanente Arena for the regular season finale against the Texas Legends on Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. PT.
