Warriors, Kaiser Permanente and the Athletes' Corner bring Swishes for Dishes Food Insecurity Initiative to Santa Cruz for 2022-23 Season

By Santa Cruz Warriors Staff /November 22, 2022

The Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State Warriors, Warriors Gaming Squad (NBA 2K League), Kaiser Permanente and The Athletes’ Corner are teaming up to bring the Swishes for Dishes initiative back to Santa Cruz for the 2022-23 season. In an effort to combat food insecurity throughout the Bay Area, 10 meals will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County for each point the Santa Cruz Warriors score this season.

“We are excited to continue the Swishes for Dishes initiative in Santa Cruz for the third consecutive season, as this program is so important in fighting food insecurity in our local community. Second Harvest Food Bank has been the champion in fighting food insecurity in our county, and we are excited to be supporting them alongside Kaiser Permanente and The Athletes’ Corner,” said Santa Cruz Warriors President Chris Murphy. “This year, we hope to donate another 50,000 or more meals and help local Santa Cruz County families in need.”

Originally launched in 2020, the Santa Cruz Warriors, Kaiser Permanente, and The Athletes’ Corner have donated 103,590 meals to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County over the past two seasons.

“Kaiser Permanente is proud to partner with the Santa Cruz Warriors on the Swishes for Dishes initiative because everyone needs – and deserves – access to healthy food,” said Irene Chavez, Senior Vice President and Area Manager for Kaiser Permanente Central Coast. “When people are hungry, lack proper nutrition or cannot access the food they need to address medical needs, they are less likely to lead healthy lives.”
